A/Prof Julia Maclean, Clinical Specialist, Speech Pathology at the Cancer Care Centre and Dr Sharon Tivey Anaesthetist St George Hospital have been recognised at the South East Sydney Local Health District CORE awards. Julia and Sharon led a multidisciplinary team of clinicians from ENT, ED, ENT, Trauma, ICU and Respiratory to devise a system that alerts staff to the special airway needs that some of our patients need in hospital. The ‘At-Risk Airway Alert’ won the award in the category “Patient Safety First”. This innovation will now be nominated to represent SESLHD at the NSW Health State Awards. We wish the team good luck!
