1,000,000 steps to support summer scholarships
Medical physicist Joel Poder and his friends walked 1,000,000 steps to support two summer medical physics research scholarships at the cancer centre.
October 2022 was a busy period for St George Hospital Cancer Care Centre medical physicist Joel Poder, as he and several of his friends set out to complete a challenge of 1,000,000 steps in one month. This challenge acted as a fundraiser for Southern Cancer Care to support two summer medical physics research scholarships at the cancer centre.
Joel and his colleagues managed to hit the 1,000,000 step total on October 28 and in doing so raised over $1,000 to support the summer scholarships. These summer research scholarships will be focusing on projects to improve survival and reduce side effects for patients undergoing radiotherapy for prostate cancer at St George Hospital.
