Joel will be presenting at the St George & Sutherland Medical Research Foundation (SSMRF) Annual Dinner Friday 4 April as a successful grant recipient of the 2024 Research Grants. Joelโ€™s research looks at the provision of same day radiation planning and treatment for patients with metastatic brain cancer. The project will look to validate ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—น๐—น๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ tools used in the planning phase of radiation treatment. These tools will allow an MRI taken in the morning, then planning the radiation dose for multiple brain tumours followed by treatment in the afternoon. Once the artificial intelligence tools have been validated the project will move to clinical trial. This project has the potential to make a significant impact on the speed in which treatment can be offered for patients with metastatic brain cancers.
